Jacki Turner, owner of a chain of casinos and hotels, is dying of cancer. She sets her four daughters a challenge to get their inheritance, otherwise her millions will go to an animal welfare charity.
All the sisters have reason for needing the money. Mel, who has run up a lot of debt, has to run a marathon, Jess has to stay in a relationship longer than a few months, while Rose, an exhausted mum who is estranged from her own mother, has to publish a children’s picture book. Isla – the only one to follow her mother into the business world - has to look beyond her wealth and status to find out who she is.
This was an engaging and amusing read about four sisters dealing with pain and resentment from the past as they attempt to complete a tough task to inherit the family fortune. As they say, where there’s a will, there’s a way.
