Anna Bell was invited along to a Penguin function in London on July 2 to celebrate the publication of Jane Green's The Patchwork Marriage. Here's her report:
When I got the invitation to go to the book launch of Jane Green's The Patchwork Marriage (aka Another Piece of My Heart in the US), I didn't hesitate to accept the offer. I love Jane Green's books, in fact she is the reason I now read chick lit. Mr Maybe was my first chick lit novel, and after reading a few of her other books such as Straight Talking, Jemima J and Bookends I was hooked.
The launch was held in the private members club The Hospital Club. We were treated to fizz and amazing canapes in a lovely bar setting, but of course the best bit was that getting to chat to Jane. Even though she's a bestselling author, with 13 books under her belt, she is still really down-to-earth. She was more than happy to spend time chatting to us all. I'm pictured right with Jane.
Jemima J has to be one of my favourite chick lit characters, so I was delighted to hear that we haven't heard the last from her and that there would be a new project involving Jemima in the future. I was also excited to have seen in the flesh Jane's inspiration for the character Ben from the novel.
Jane now lives in the US but has been over in the UK to promote her latest novel. I was lucky enough to get a signed copy of The Patchwork Marriage which I can't wait to read. It has already become a High Rater on the Chicklit Club website.
The people of Penguin gave us a signed copy to give away to a lucky UK reader too. Congratulations to our winner, Caroline of Dagenham, who shared The Beach House was her favourite Jane Green novel.
