Jessica is worried that her lies will come out in the open and threaten her marriage to Todd. Elizabeth is beginning to doubt her partner Bruce, after the rape accusations keep on coming. And for Lila, after the disastrous first episode of The True Housewives of Sweet Valley where Ken walked out after she put him down as a bonehead football player, can she let down her guard and tell Ken how she really feels? The story keeps getting better as the stakes keep getting higher. (PP)
Sweet Valley Confidential: The Sweet Life - Too Many Doubts - Francine Pascal (2012)
In the third book in the series, things just aren't adding up in the Bruce Patman vs Robin Platt rape case. As Elizabeth goes undercover as Laura the therapist to hear Robin's side of the story, what will Bruce's reaction be when he discovers the truth and feels betrayed? Will we see the old Bruce re-appear? Tragedy strikes Steven and Aaron Wakefield when their daughter Emma is kidnapped. Is it to do with the Patman case or something entirely different? Jessica has reached the end of her marriage - is it time to move on with the willing Liam or will she give it one more shot at winning Todd back? As the title suggests, it seems a lot is going down in Sweet Valley and as a result it will have everyone questioning everything they do and say. (PP)
Sweet Valley Confidential: The Sweet Life - Secrets and Seductions - Francine Pascal (2012)
All Lila Fowler has ever wanted is to be the centre of attention and deep down she has realised that she actually loves Ken Matthews. After Ken leaves her for Ashley Morgan - one of the other contestants on the hit TV show True Housewives of Sweet Valley - Lila comes up with the perfect plan to win him back - she will fake a pregnancy. All goes accordingly to plan until gossip queen Caroline Pearce gets a hold of the truth. What will happen though when Lila finds out she is actually pregnant? Meanwhile, it seems that ex-reporter Sarah has her claws into Todd and what will happen when rumours of Jessica and Todd's divorce get out? Book #4 reminds me of the original stories of lies, secrets and seductions. This one will definitely have readers gasping for air as they dig deeper into the lives of the Sweet Valley characters. Sweet Valley Confidential: The Sweet Life - Cutting the Ties - Francine Pascal (2012)
Bruce and Annie are getting it on in France or are they? If Caroline Pearce's blog is anything to go by, it seems lawyer Annie - known as "Easy Annie" back when they were all in high school - is a sex addict. Elizabeth has quit the paper and has decided to work her own angles about whether Bruce is guilty or not. She has asked Aaron to go undercover into Warner's firm to see if he had anything to do with the rape allegations. Jessica and Todd seem to have a love/hate relationship going on and with the divorce all up in the air, Jessica seems to have to moved on to Liam but is she ready to settle down? Lila is really pregnant now - will she tell Ken the truth and will they play happy families? Does Todd love his family enough to find out the truth about Sarah or will she have Todd in the palm of her hands and have the power to cut Jessica Wakefield out of his life for good? Cutting The Ties, unlike the other books, didn't really have a main focus. (PP)
Sweet Valley Confidential: The Sweet Life - Bittersweet - Francine Pascal (2012)
In this conclusion to The Sweet Life collection of six novellas, Liam's true colours have been revealed. Will Jessica accept his wedding proposal or will she prove to Liam that her heart always belongs to Todd? Elizabeth, with the help of Aaron, was able to track down Robin Platt. Will this help Bruce Patman get off the rape charges? Will he and Elizabeth finally be together or has she lost her chance as he and Annie got closer in Book #5? Lila decides to keep the baby and in doing so has she finally won back the love of her husband Ken? What will Lila be like as a mother - will the next step be a reality TV show called The Life of the Sweet Valley Mummies!! Bittersweet was an awesome way to finish the series but I do hope that there will be more books in the Sweet Life series as it has been great to reconnect with the Sweet Valley characters after all these years.
