It’s Valentine’s Day and Riley’s first wedding anniversary with Tristan. But they are spending the evening at a postponed event for his grandparents. Most of his family have never really warmed to Riley, a former model who now runs a lingerie store.
At the party, her husband and his cousin Milo get into a fight. And the next day she finds herself one year in the future, with her marriage in ruins and Milo in the car next to her. What has happened in the intervening year? It seems she’s about to find out as she’s going to live her life backwards, one day at a time.
It was a different device to have the story go in reverse, to know the outcome of events before they happened, with Riley on edge over the fact that she’ll eventually arrive at the date that changed her future. Not a completely smooth delivery perhaps but overall an interesting read.
