The Fertility Diet: Groundbreaking Research Reveals Natural Ways to Boost Ovulation and Improve Your Chances of Getting Pregnant - Jorge E. Chavarro, Walter C. Willett, Patrick J. Skerrett (2007)
I had been trying to get pregnant for nearly two years, I am young, healthy, I exercise and eat right, all of my tests came back A-ok. I figured this book - which prescribes 10 simple changes in diet and activity that can increase your chances of getting pregnant - might give me a few clues as to why I am still not conceiving. Guess what? It did! Fats are not evil! Contrary to what I have been lead to believe, I am actually too skinny, I don't have enough meat on my bones to have the perfect fertility balance. Not only do I need to gain weight to be in my "ideal" BMI but I need to gain the right sort of weight. No more intense muscle-building exercise for me (I still do a small bit because it's healthy, but not hours a day seven days a week like before), no more 'diet' foods, no more fearing butter, mayo, or ice-cream (in moderation of course). I am currently living a happier lifestyle, and hoping to attain my goal (to become pregnant). I feel that with this book and the knowledge I have gained, I am well on my way. (AV)
