SPECIALTY SHELF
Milk & Cookies - Tina Casaceli (2011)
I am a cookie monster. Really. I adore cookies and make a huge batch weekly (half of which are taken to my mother-in-law's home immediately so that I don't over-eat - which I always do). I consider myself a cookie aficionado, I am serious about my cookies, and serious about making sure every one of my family/friends/clients know how amazing I am at making them. OK, that being said, I am always on the lookout for new recipes to blow my circle of lucky friends/family/clients away, and this book, subtitled 89 Heirloom Recipes from New York's Milk & Cookies Bakery, is FULL of them. At first separated by delicious dough type (vanilla, double chocolate, oatmeal, sugar, peanut butter, etc.), then the book gets fancy and gives you family favourites, specialty cookies, and brownie and bar recipes! With some recipes accompanied by a full-page picture, this book is to die for! I have made three so far, the original chocolate chip, spiced oatmeal and the fantastic chocolate-almond cookie. I have my eye on a few more (I'm talking about you, lavender-honey cookies!) and am excited by my results so far. I am going to be a whole new level of awesome, thanks to this book. Though I know what most cookies/bars should look like, I would have appreciated some more pictures. (AV)
