SPECIALTY SHELF

Fabulicious - Teresa Giudice (2011)

Filled with yummy basic Italian recipes and the personality we all love (or love to hate) on The Real Housewives of New Jersey, this cookbook is half recipes and half story telling - with a lot of attitude. I enjoyed the sections about picking olive oil, and picking seasonings, those were super helpful and I learnt quite a few new things. Some of the recipe names are a bit too cutesy for me - Adriana's Lasagna, Joe's Juicy Meatballs, Sexy Chick Eggless Pasta - but that's part of Teresa's charm I suppose. The recipes are pretty basic and simple yet delicious. I love Italian cooking, I love fresh ingredients, and I love a good traditional meal - this book has it all. I enjoyed learning how to make pasta dough, though I doubt I will ever shell out enough money on a pasta machine to make it useful. The Last (Minute) Suppers selection was large and right up my alley. This cookbook is filled with lots of pictures (half about the food, half about Teresa & family), I would recommend this book to fans but not someone just looking for an Italian cookbook. (AV)
