Everything is Lies - Helen Callaghan (2018)

Twenty-six-year-old Sophia is an architect living in London. One morning she goes to visit her parents in Suffolk and finds her mother dead and her father barely alive. The police suspect that her mother wanted to kill herself and when her father tried to stop her, she stabbed him. But Sophia knew her mother and she thinks that they were murdered. When she finds out that her mother had joined a cult when she was young and was going to reveal everything in a book, she is more and more convinced that her mother didn't want to die.
I was engrossed in this book from the first page. I really liked the character of Sophia, determined and ready to do everything to find out the truth, and I found the plot suspenseful and full of surprises. An unpredictable and captivating book that explores the relationship between a mother and a daughter and the things a mother would do to protect her own daughter. (NP) 8/10
