50 Simple Soups for the Slow Cooker - Lynn Alley (2011)
Filled with many vivid pictures and easy-to-follow recipes, this book is a must-have for soup-loving, slow-cooker-owning people like me. It's filled with tips and tricks to make soup more flavoursome, and recipes that range from the easy and familiar Black Bean Chili with Cornbread Crust to the more exotic but still tasty Spiced Spinach Dal with Coconut Milk. The most unique soups I found were the Spiced Apple Pie Soup (haven't been daring enough to try that one yet) and Garnet Yam Soup with Coconut Milk (a beautifully coloured soup). My personal favourite soup was the Cuban Black Bean and Sweet Potato soup which was spicy, sweet, and bursting with flavour. I love the layout of this book, the ingredients are laid out simply and the directions to the point. A winter must-have. (AV)
