NEW RELEASE

Gabrielle Tozer has penned a sequel to The Intern, called Faking It. The summary says: "Things are finally looking up for 18-year-old Josie Browning. Her hot new boyfriend James can't keep his hands off her, she's moved into a share house in the city and - fresh from her roller-coaster ride at the now defunct Sash magazine - she's scored a coveted job as indi website's junior writer. Life wasn't meant to go that smoothly, so when indi's features editor Sia announces she's pregnant and needs time off, the pressure is on for Josie to prove to her editor Liani that she's got what it takes to be a real journalist. Loved-up Josie is also on a mission to lose her virginity to James (if they can get past second base without laughing, arguing, being interrupted or freaking out!). And if that's not enough, Josie's battling with bong-smoking room-mates, mag-girl frenemies and confusing feelings for jaded travel writer, Alex. High on the fabulous perks from her new job at indi, Josie's life seems pretty close to perfect - even though she still hasn't mastered her hair straightener. But when Josie is suspected of stealing from one of magazines' rising queen bees at a luxurious media junket, she is thrown into a mystery of lies, theft and deceit that threatens to ruin her reputation, love life and career forever. Does Josie have what it takes to be a real journalist? Will she be able to prove her innocence without losing her job at indi (and her mind)? Or will the bitchy magazine girls win once and for all? And what will Josie do when Alex comes to her rescue when no one else does, not even James...? Yep. 18 just got a whole lot more complicated. " Faking It is out in December 2014.

The Intern - Gabrielle Tozer (2014)

Josie’s about to turn 18 and as part of her journalism course at university, she scores an internship at Sash magazine. True, she’d prefer to be hitting the hard news at a newspaper, but amid the coffee-fetching, beauty bargains and clothes-sorting, Josie throws herself into the job. Especially when she finds out one of the three interns will win $5000 – her mother desperately needs the cash after their dad left them. Crashing at her cousin Tim’s place in the city, Josie gets a crush on his flatmate, James. Then along comes her big break, when a boy band member admits to a shocking secret. This is a fun read which showcases what it’s like to work in magazines, from a writer who knows all too well. Can’t wait to get stuck into the sequel, Faking It.

Australian magazine writer Gabrielle Tozer gives a glimpse into the industry with her debut young adult novel, The Intern. The summary says: "Josie Browning dreams of having it all. A stellar academic record, an amazing career in journalism - and for her current crush to realise she actually exists. The only problem? Josie can't get through twenty-four hours without embarrassing her sister Kat or her best friend Angel, let alone herself. Josie's luck changes though when she lands an internship at the glossy fashion magazine Sash. A coveted columnist job is up for grabs, but Josie's got some tough competition in the form of two other interns. Battle lines are drawn and Josie quickly learns that the magazine industry is far from easy, especially under the reign of powerful editor, Rae Swanson. From the lows of coffee-fetching and working 10-hour days, to the highs of mingling with celebrities, scoring endless free beauty products (plus falling for her cousin's seriously gorgeous flatmate James) this is one year Josie will never forget." A sequel is in the works.
