This is the tale of Cassi, a 30-year-old woman who is in a relationship with Guy. Cassi thinks she is all set for marriage and her happy-ever-after until she finds out that he has cheated on her and she is forced back into the life of a singleton. Yet, fate intervenes when shortly afterwards Cassi meets Ben, completely opposite to her ex and a bad boy to say the least. Ben introduces her to a world she never knew existed. The book follows Cassi as she recovers from her broken heart and embarks on her adventures with Ben. Featuring sex, drugs, alcohol and misdemeanours, the book charts the journey of Cassi on her quest of self-discovery and finding "the one".
The style of writing was easy to follow since the narrative was like diary entries and relayed in the first person. Cassi was a very likeable, rather endearing character. Although some of her exploits are not for the faint-hearted, nevertheless, Cassi takes back her life following her break-up with Guy and rediscovers her mojo.
This is a book for anyone who has ever been dumped. It is witty, honest, fast paced and you find yourself really rooting for Cassi. I especially liked the way each chapter finished with a personal philosophy quote. Cleverly structured and well worth a read. I really hope that the author writes a sequel as I would love to hear the next chapter of her life. (LP)
