Keep Calm and Carry a Big Drink (2013)

It's been almost one year since Mel, Nic and Seema pulled their magical charms out of the cake at Nic's bridal shower and everyone except Mel is living their dream. Seema is about to marry Scott in an elaborate Indian wedding and Nic, the wife of an NBA coach, is pregnant. Mel is single and sick of her job as a math teacher. At Seema's bridal shower, Mel is anxious to pick the passport cake charm, but instead ends up with the money tree charm. She decides to take destiny into her own hands and still travel. A last-minute trip to Paris to visit Seema's sexy older brother and then a trip to Hawaii to visit an old friend, makes for an unexpected summer full of surprises. At the end of the novel, the charms are pulled out of another cake and Mel, Nic and Seema realise that cake charms are never wrong. This story - the follow-up to There's Cake in My Future - is a light read and although the main character was a bit whiny at times, it was enjoyable. (AO)

Misery Loves Cabernet (2009)

The witty and relatable heroine, Charlize "Charlie" Edwards, from A Total Waste of Makeup, returns with more drama in the men department, and increasingly odd tales about her boss, famous Hollywood actor Drew Stanton. At the end of the previous novel, Charlie had a fabulously cool job as a personal assistant (along with an idiotic boss), a swanky home in LA and a leading man, Jordan, who is a deliciously fine photographer. Now things are beginning to heat up once again with Jordan away in Paris on assignment, and Drew's new producer, Liam, who is not only gorgeous but also someone Charlie had her eye on in the past. Now here he is, working closely with her to please Drew in every way possible, while looking good and making Charlie's heart swoon. What is a girl to do when she can't decide between two guys, one of whom is far away and the other who ends up getting so close, it's electrifying? Misery is back for Charlie and that means, bring on the cabernet! (CC)

A Total Waste of Make-up (2005)

As the big 3-0 looms, Charlie Edwards has started keeping a journal of advice for a future generation of women. Her nuggets of wisdom cover everything from not waiting by the phone, why you should avoid celebrity magazines and married men, and how to have a good laugh. With her younger sister Andy's wedding preparations underway, she also has lots of advice for brides and bridesmaids - such as saving your bridesmaid dresses and making the brides wear them to your own wedding. Charlie is the personal assistant to one of Hollywood's sexiest and most insecure stars, Drew Stanton, who has fallen madly for her indifferent best friend Dawn. And Charlie, who's chronically single and has just realised she's never going to be Jennifer Aniston, has her eye on Jordan, who is the still photographer on Drew's latest movie In My Heart. Can she follow her own advice when it comes to matters of the heart?
