Losing It (2016)

Julia leaves her job and unfulfilled life in Washington DC to spend the summer with her aunt in North Carolina. At 26 years old, she still doesn't know what to do with her life but of one thing she is sure: she needs to lose her virginity and soon. Online dating and casual meetings at funerals are her chance to try to get over her crush on her married boss and to finally have sex. Julia's obsession with her virginity occupies 90 per cent of her brain (her words!). She is not looking for love or romance - she just wants to be like everyone else around her. This is a thought-provoking and compelling novel with hints of humour created by the awkward chats between Julia and her aunt. (NP) 7/10
