The Drifter (2016)

Party girl and fun loving, Cate Christie is living a great life until a tragic accident occurs that has serious consequences. She flees Perth leaving the mess behind her and seeks refuge with her elderly Aunt Ida on her farm in a remote country township. Cate just wants to go where no one knows her. There she finds swagman Henry also running from a secret he won’t reveal. Through her aunt’s ill health and having to manage the farm, Cate reconstructs her life but cannot resist the attraction to the enigmatic but reclusive Henry.
You will fall in love with Cate and Henry and enjoy this coming-of-age novel. It also contains a caustic wit about it that you’ll remember long after you’ve turned the last page. (LF) 7/10
